As the Editorial Committee's unofficial geek in residence, Ben built most of the blog and is responsible for keeping the (virtual) cogs well greased and running smoothly. When not providing sanity checks on the latest harebrained schemes to increase the IP Whiteboard's audience to Facebook-sized proportions, Ben can be found working in Mallesons' Knowledge Management team on a range of research and IS projects. The Federal Court has dismissed an application by Specsavers regarding an independent consumer survey on optometrists. Specsavers claimed Canstar Blue's survey results were misleading. The case sends a strong warning to businesses who wish to sue because they are unhappy with consumer survey results or ratings. Mallesons represented Canstar Blue in this litigation. IP Australia has announced a second round public consultation on IP rights reforms. The closing date for submissions is 12 February 2010.
